Was looking for a quick sweet treat and saw this lovely lady selling fresh grilled mochi with sweet red bean filling. She invited us in and served us some lovely genmaicha which has become one of my favourite teas! She was so welcoming I felt right at home! The mochi was sweet, warm and perfectly crisp on the outside. Just what I was looking for! If you’re in need of a sweet fix make sure you come here!
the best mochi shop u can ever find. the owner is also the sweetest and kindest soul ive met in Japan and I really wish that her business continues to thrive! being in this industry for 30 years, she has perfected both the flavours and textures of mochi. no scale can be used to describe how good her store is. do support her!
Love the mochi so much we had it twice. Warm mochi with a gooey middle and thin crust of oil-free char outside. This is a gem! The white mochi is fragrant and the green yoyogi mochi had the distinct herb taste. Delicious esp in cold weather.
Super friendly senior lady and amazing free matcha tea! It was our first night in Japan. We didn’t realize most restaurants closed at 9pm on a weekday. Desperately exhausted after long walking/shopping in a cold rainy day. We found this hidden gem which accepted credit cards. We took a rest inside. The senior lady helped us with tea, which was free with purchase Mochi. Omg! It’s the best mocha tea I ever had during the trip. I wish I ask where to buy this tea powder. Thank you for the unforgettable mocha tea and your kindness ❤️
Aioi Mochi was one of the sweetest and most memorable food stops of my trip. It’s a small spot run by an elderly woman working completely on her own, and you can really feel the care she puts into what she makes. The roasted mochi here was honestly the best mochi I had during my entire time in Japan. The texture and flavour were incredible, fresh, warm, and perfectly done. It felt like such an authentic little hidden gem tucked away in the Dotonbori area. More people seriously need to know about this place. She deserves for it to become a hotspot. If you are in Dotonbori, this is an absolute must eat.
