Authentic Viets side snacks if you want to try. Sidewalk eating place so it’s pretty loud, but great to experience when visiting tho. Fried fermented pork was okay but the best is the fries and sauces combo.
After visiting St. Joseph’s Cathedral, we decided to stop for lunch at a nearby street restaurant. We were dragged in by people on the street holding menus and insisting we try their set meal. They told us it would be the perfect portion for two people, but that was far from true. The amount of food could’ve easily fed three or four, and we barely managed to eat half of it. The seating consisted of small plastic stools set up in a narrow alley, which added to the street-food vibe but wasn’t the most comfortable. Unfortunately, the food quality was disappointing. The pork didn’t taste fresh, and both the banana smoothie and coconut water also lacked freshness. When it came time to pay, we had to ask for the bill four times before someone finally used his phone calculator and told us the total 460,000 vnd without providing an actual receipt. Overall, it was a disappointing experience that even left us with indigestion afterwards. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
This was pretty mid. The grilled spring rolls really lacked flavour, but the fried pork was good. The portion sizes were huge, though, if you’re into that.
This is the place to go sit on a little stool, have a bottle of beer, some crunchy mango, jicama, french fries, pork skewers, fried cheese sticks, and fish jerky; all while watching the flare of the local night life. It was clear (all three times we went there during our stay in Hanoi) that we were not their usual customers. The workers spent most of their energy and time flagging down locals as they rode by on their scooters - ushering them to sit in their section of the little stools. Because once you sit down, you are in that worker's "shop." You pay that person and order all your refills from that person. We went twice during the afternoon and once in the evening. I suggest the latter for the best experience. Pull up a stool, enjoy a reprieve from the sun, and watch the local scene come to life. And you're right along St Joseph's cathedral. It's a great vibe and our kids loved it too. The pork was our last favorite out of everything we ordered. Personally, I'd stick with the fruits, french fries, and beer.
Got a chance to visit this local street food at night. Dishes are made fresh, full of flavor, and go very well with cold drinks. If you have a chance to visit Ha Noi, this is one of the ways that you can enjoy the city at night in a very local way.
