Cốn Sủi Ông Há
Opening Hours
Why worth it
- Serves con sui, a Sapa take on pho with a thicker, saucier broth rather than a clear soup
- Comes with char siu pork, crispy fried sweet potato, herbs and roasted peanuts for texture
- The dish is unique to this region — do not expect it to taste like standard Hanoi pho
- A single-focus menu, so most visitors order the same one specialty

4 Jul 2026 We were looking for a local dish that can represents Sapa and found con sui, very palatable for us. A very good breakfast. With chilli sauce and lime, it tasted even better. The condensed milk coffee was very good too! We paid 196,000 for 2 bowls of con sui and 2 coffee. Extracted online. “Cốn sủi is a famous Northern Vietnamese "dry pho" specialty hailing from the Sapa and Lao Cai regions. Instead of broth, flat rice noodles are tossed in a thick, rich, and savory sauce made from simmered pork bones, spices, and occasionally gấc fruit. It is topped with char siu pork, crispy fried sweet potatoes, peanuts, and fresh herbs.”
This tastes good. Food is served warm with mint and perilla leaves---which boost the taste. It's a wide-flat rice noodle with soup and coriander, and peanuts.
Stopped by to try cốn sủi, a Sa Pa specialty, and it didn’t disappoint. Soft noodles, rich savory sauce, generous meat and egg toppings, this is basically the famous “dry pho” dish that originated from the Chinese community but became a Sa Pa specialty of its own. The place gets pretty crowded, and the space is a bit cramped since it shares the spot with a bus company office, so expect to wait during peak hours.
The food has a fairly average taste and is not particularly special. It is easy to find similar dishes elsewhere and is suitable for people who do not eat spicy food. Most of the staff were polite and provided fast service. However, the staff member who took our order seemed unwilling to provide service. I had read some reviews mentioning this issue before, but I did not expect to experience it myself. At the same time, she appeared to pay much more attention to Western tourists. As a foreigner and a tourist myself, this made me feel uncomfortable and disappointed. Based on my experience and other reviews I have seen, I believe there may be many Asian tourists who have encountered similar situations. It was quite discouraging. Normally, I rarely give a rating below 4 stars, and I usually give 5 stars because I understand how challenging it is for business owners. This review is shared with the hope that the service experience can be improved. As for the location, it is easy to find, and the cleanliness is acceptable, in line with typical standards in Vietnam.
I should’ve listened to the other reviews saying their food was average. I like my soup piping hot and it came barely over room temp. We had it for breakfast so it was in the low 70s. When we came in, they assumed we all wanted the noodles that I have pictured below. I was excited to try something new but was disappointed and unsatisfied. I guess since they are advertised through social media, good service is not needed to be provided. Please go try other places
