I absolutely loved visiting Train Street and it came to be one of the highlights of my trip to Vietnam. I went to the main, narrowest and busiest part of the train tracks as I really wanted to experience the train up close. It was so unlike anything else I have ever seen and done. I found the atmosphere of the area to be really exciting, especially in anticipation of the trains coming by. They came very close to the cafes and depending whether it was a passenger or freight train, you could even reach out and touch it (but for safety reasons, I would highly not recommend doing this!). I also enjoyed being able to walk along the train tracks uninhibited. It was a great place to socialise both with other travellers and the local cafe owners. All staff I interacted with were super friendly, so warm, welcoming, helpful and courteous. I loved visiting Train Street so much that I came both during the day time and on another night so I could get the full experience. It is definitely very touristy and prices at the cafes were more expensive than elsewhere. It was nevertheless affordable. I would highly recommend coming to visit here. It might not be the best and safest place for young children though.
Hanoi Train Street — a truly unique experience! 🚂☕ Visited the famous Train Street in Hanoi and it was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. The atmosphere is lively, with plenty of small cafés and local spots along the railway tracks. The most exciting part is watching the train pass incredibly close to you — it’s something you don’t experience every day! To access the area, you’ll generally be approached by local café owners or guides, and you’ll need to enter through one of the cafés. We enjoyed sitting down, having something to eat and drink, and waiting for the train to arrive. The anticipation itself makes the experience even more fun! That said, safety is very important here. The train passes extremely close, and tourists need to follow the locals’ instructions and stay well away from the tracks when the train approaches. There have also been incidents involving careless visitors, so it’s definitely not a place to take unnecessary risks. A must-visit experience if you’re in Hanoi — unique, exciting, and worth experiencing at least once! 🇻🇳🚂
Visiting Hanoi Train Street was one of the absolute highlights of our Vietnam trip. We had seen countless videos online, but nothing compares to experiencing it in person. We found a cozy café right beside the tracks, enjoyed a delicious Vietnamese coffee, and waited excitedly for the train. As the warning came that the train was approaching, everyone quickly moved to the side. My heart was racing! Watching the train slowly pass just inches away from us was both thrilling and surreal. You can actually feel the rumble of the tracks and the breeze as the train goes by—it was an experience we’ll never forget. What made it even more special was the atmosphere. The café owners were incredibly friendly, the locals were welcoming, and it was amazing to see how everyday life continues around the railway. As soon as the train passed, everyone returned to their seats, laughing, taking photos, and sharing stories as if nothing had happened. If you’re visiting Hanoi, don’t miss Train Street. It’s one of those rare places that perfectly combines excitement, local culture, and unforgettable memories. We left with huge smiles, amazing photos, and an experience we’ll be talking about for years.
Hanoi Train Street was one of the most unusual and memorable experiences of our trip to Vietnam. Walking along the active railroad tracks and choosing a small café to sit and wait for the train was an adventure all by itself. We stopped at a coffee shop right beside the tracks and ordered several drinks, including a Passion Mango Soda, an avocado smoothie with espresso shots, and a coconut smoothie. All of them were excellent and very refreshing. The atmosphere is fascinating. Vendors walk up and down the tracks selling snacks, souvenirs, and handmade items. We bought a few fun frog magnets with trains on them as unique keepsakes from the visit. We also tried some pastries from a street vendor, which unfortunately were not very good, but that was a small part of an otherwise fantastic experience. When the train finally came through, it was incredible. In some places it passes so close you feel like you could reach out and touch it. Watching everyone quickly move back and then seeing the train roll through just a few feet away was something we will never forget. If you are visiting Hanoi, Train Street is absolutely worth experiencing at least once
This place is super touristy and overdone Instagram wise but it really is special and a lot of fun. I went to get some coffee and watch the tourists stumble around. The coffee at ANNA COFFEE was very good and reasonably priced. The service was nice too. Be aware there are a lot of hustlers trying to sell you stuff but that’s everywhere in this part of town.
