The service was quick and efficient. The bread rolls, though small, were packed with flavor and very enjoyable. I ordered the Bánh Mì Đặc Biệt (25K) and paired it with a trà tắc. However, the drink could have been better chilled, as it arrived slightly lukewarm. The overall atmosphere could also be improved—like the beverage, it would benefit from better cooling, as it felt quite warm inside. On a positive note, our family also tried the hot corn, which they found satisfying.
These banh mi are small so order at least 2. I ordered the Xiu Mai and Cha Nuong Ong Tre for 15k each. The fillings were tasty, however the banh mi was soggy. Vietnamese banh mi should be crispy. Even when they reheat on the charcoal grill, I was disappointed there was zero crunch. Not sure if that’s Hue style, but I have a few more banh mi stops to make.
The vendor DROPPED THE FOOD on the ground, yet they still gave me the dropped portion – what do you think about that? I'm from Ho Chi Minh City, working here, so I followed Google Maps directions. This was my first time here, and seeing the high ratings, I thought it must be good. I bought two sandwiches to try (one with grilled pork, 6 pieces of meat; one with tapioca pearls, 5 tapioca pearls) for a total of 24 VND. The staff weren't friendly (understandable given the low price). When they gave it to me, the sandwich DROPPED ON THE GROUND right while I was FILMING. I thought they would exchange it for me, but they still gave me the exact same thing. Being kind, I took it home. I threw away the top part because it had fallen on the ground. After eating the remaining half, well… nothing special, just like everywhere else. The taste wasn't appealing. I once ate at a street food stall on Vo Thi Sau Street in Hue; they sold grilled pork sandwiches, the taste was exactly the same as here, but it cost 10,000 dong and had more meat. They didn't wear gloves (meat juices dripped onto their hands, and they only grilled it briefly, so the quality was only mediocre). This is my personal experience (everything is proven by photos/videos). Your experience may be different, but PLEASE CONSIDER CAREFULLY. You can buy it anywhere, so why buy it from a place that is inferior in many aspects?
One of the best things I’ve had in Huế is this bánh mì! I only regret not having it sooner; my cousin bought them as take out before we left after we saw people carrying bags of them as they’re about to leave Huế. The bánh mì here is quite small (not the usual size), and the filling is very different than what you’d usually find. The meat is dried and sweet. They also sell bánh bột lọc here that you can also have with the bread. I’d come back here no matter what if I visit Huế again.
Def my fav place for bánh mì. What I love about this place is that they have a spacious dine in area even just for a bánh mì. We had a special bánh mì for 25k and it was worth it. The baguette size was just enough so we can have more space to try more dishes.
