If you want to experience the authentic culinary heartbeat of Hue, Dong Ba Market is an absolute must-visit. Located right along the iconic Perfume River, this bustling hub offers an unforgettable sensory experience, especially for street food enthusiasts. The market is packed with vibrant stalls serving a magnificent variety of local specialties that showcase the rich food culture of Vietnam's former royal capital. Among the many incredible treats, there are three highlights you simply cannot miss: Bánh khoái: A delightfully crispy, deep-fried pancake filled with juicy shrimp, pork, and bean sprouts, paired perfectly with a rich peanut dip. Bánh ram ít: A fascinating double-layered dumpling featuring a soft, chewy top and a crispy fried bottom that creates a wonderful contrast in every bite. Hue Chè: A beloved sweet soup dessert available in dozens of colorful varieties, perfect for a refreshing treat. Beyond the mouthwatering flavors, Dong Ba Market is famous for its remarkably affordable prices. You can easily indulge in a complete feast of local dishes without breaking the bank. Energetic, charming, and packed with delicious eats, it is the ultimate spot to satisfy your food cravings!

This market is the heart of the city. It's not fancy or air-conditioned, so be ready for the heat and the hustle. You can see the locals doing their daily shopping and the sheer amount of goods packed into this building is wild. The light coming through the old roof makes for some great photos if you're into street photography. It's the best place to buy local tea or coffee to take home, just make sure to shop around for the best price. It's a rugged, raw experience that gives you a much better feel for the city than any museum. Definitely worth the visit.

Was only able to reach dry and wet goods area as well as area with street foods - these areas are relatively cleaner than other markets. Lots of items for sale both for locals and tourists. Food was good too. We were 2 people and we thought we couldn’t finish the food but it was just all so good. Chè was from the next stall from where we sat. For tourists, be ready with translator apps so communication is easier. We were able to find some sellers that could speak English so our purchases went smoothly. :)

Dong Ba Market was a bit hit and miss. One side of the market sold street food which I found exciting, even though I didn't actually eat there. I enjoyed people watching and taking all the action in. Fruit, vegetables and other general foodstuff was sold on the other side. The markets also sold some souvenirs and clothes. I didn't end up buying anything from the market. The stalls I went to didn't have transparent pricing which was a bit off putting.
