Chè Mợ Tôn Đích
Opening Hours
Why worth it
- Serves che (sweet soup dessert), rated 3.8 — one of several che options in Hue worth comparing to Che Hem
- Named after its owner, a common pattern for long-running Hue dessert stalls
- A modest, local dessert stop rather than a polished cafe

We ended up waiting a bit for the chè bột lọc heo quay—one of Huế’s iconic specialties—but it turned out to be time very well spent. From the first bite, it completely delivered: the tapioca dumpling had that perfect chewy bite, wrapping around a flavorful core of crispy, savory roast pork. The balance of textures and flavors was just right—rich, slightly sweet, and deeply satisfying. It impressed us so much that we found ourselves coming back for it three times during our four-day stay in Huế, which really says everything about how much we loved it. If you’re looking to try something authentic and unforgettable, this dish should be at the top of your list. The rest of the menu, while decent, didn’t quite reach the same level. They were fine, but nothing that really stood out. This place is all about the bánh bột lọc heo quay—it’s the clear highlight. If you’re in Huế, definitely make the stop, just expect a bit of a wait during busy hours. Trust me, it’s absolutely worth it.
My favourite food item in Huế is the chè bột lọc heo quay (20.000 VND), is very peculiar as it’s a sweet and savoury item. It’s a type of chè, so it’s a sweet dessert, glutinous rice dumplings in a sweet sugary syrup liquid, but inside is roasted pork (although more roasted like the BBQ pork inside pork buns rather than the ones in siu yuk places. It might sound a bit too strange to eat, but the combination somehow works out and ends up being great. In the past, this is considered to be chè tiến vua, as it’s meant to be tribute to the emperor due to its luxurious nature of having roasted pork as an ingredient. This is a Huế speciality, and this place is quite popular, perhaps the most famous in the city. There is also a dessert platter which lets you sample 12 pre-selected items on the menu for 80K. All of these just tasted decent, nothing too special. The đậu ngự was probably our favourite. We also got the chè hạt sen for 20K, which was also very good. I’d personally just skip this and eat a bunch of chè bột lọc heo quay (this one also always gets sold out), or at least one of the chè tiến vua items (chè bột lọc heo quay, chè hạt sen, chè đậu ngự). Check it out if you ever visit the city!
A famous chè spot in Hue with so many options to choose from. I wasn't a big fan of the chè bột lọc heo quay personally but the other varieties were good. Worth trying if you want to experience authentic Hue-style chè
Perfect sweetness! Also had a lovely chat with the ladies. I wanted to bring some by plane (domestic) and they advised 5 bags max ☺️ Bot loc heo quay, bot loc dua, dau xanh dua, and khoai tia (my fav) Khoai tia taste like taro or ube but creamier 😋 Come early or on rainy day then there will be no line, or share a table with others (it's normal)
