Mì Quảng Ông Hai - Mr. Hai Noodles
Opening Hours
Why worth it
- Tucked down a side alley away from the crowds, repeatedly recommended by local guides
- The menu is limited to just two dishes — Mi Quang and Cao Lau — both considered among the citys best
- Turmeric-stained noodles, a quail egg, crushed peanuts and sesame rice crackers build the texture
- Despite its plain look, its one of the highest-rated restaurants in Hoi An on Tripadvisor

If you are looking for an authentic taste of Hội An that feels like a well-kept local secret, **Mì Quảng Ông Hai** is an absolute must-visit. Unlike the more commercialized spots in the Ancient Town, this place offers a masterclass in balance and tradition. The star of the show is the **Mì Quảng**. The noodles have the perfect "al dente" chew, and the broth is incredibly savory—rich and concentrated without being greasy. I highly recommend the mixed bowl so you can try a bit of everything; the shrimp and pork are seasoned beautifully, and the addition of a jammy quail egg is a fantastic touch. What really sets them apart is the freshness of the greens and the crunch of the rice crackers (*bánh tráng*), which provide that essential textural contrast. Don't forget to add a squeeze of lime and some of their chili jam if you like a bit of heat! The atmosphere is simple, clean, and unpretentious, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed lunch. The service is friendly and efficient, and the pricing is very reasonable for the quality you receive. It’s easily one of the best bowls of noodles in the region.
Definitely recommend this place to everyone! I was recommended by the hotel’s receptionist to this place. And the Quang Noodle here is amazing. I have been in Da Nang Hoi An for several days and this dish is the best one I had. The portion is perfectly enough for me, not very big, but might be small for others. The soup is lightly sweet, and a bit sour which is highlight of the dish. Noodle is fresh, soft. And the dish costs me 45K.
The restaurant is a bit hidden, but the flavor is authentically Quảng Nam style. The noodles are soft, and the broth is thick and flavorful. They also sell cao lầu, but personally, I think the shrimp and pork Quảng Nam noodles here are slightly better. A plus is that the fresh vegetables are very clean, and you can ask for more freely. The only downside is that the space is a bit small and hot at lunchtime.
The place was recommended by Marriott resort. It’s stunning, the food is tasty, cheap and fast. Take the mix option(the first) and you’ll be in heaven. Our stomachs were happy, this place can be trusted. Thank you Mr. Hai and special thanks to granny who’s clean the quail eggs ;)
I can’t believe this place is only a 4.5 (Feb 26). Outstanding noodles. Only two items on the menu. Mixed noodles with egg, prawn and pork or pork with noodles. The best I have ever tasted. Had to have two portions. Priced at 40k VND each. Outstanding value for money.
