Da Lat Market
Why worth it
- Dalats main indoor market, a good stop for local produce and highland specialties like avocado ice cream
- Try banh uot long ga here — steamed rice rolls with chicken offal and herbs, a distinctly Dalat breakfast dish
- A calmer, daytime counterpart to the more touristy night market nearby
- Rated 4.5, reflecting steady approval from both locals and visitors

We visited this market on a weekday and it wasn't crowded. There are many stores inside selling almost the same items at different prices. We tried some free samples given out by some of the stores. When it comes to prices, requesting a discount will result in slightly lower prices but if you don't buy, then you will get a sour look from the seller. We found the fresh produce sold on the street pretty interesting. They sold flowers, vegetables and fruit.
Da Lat Market is a popular spot, but in reality, many of the vendors here are not locals. There are numerous stalls offering similar products at very different prices, so it’s best to walk around and compare before deciding what to buy and where. There is quite a lot of aggressive solicitation from vendors, and parking fees can be unreasonably high. The food stalls also compete for customers in a rather uncivil manner. They often distinguish themselves by the color of their tables and chairs, and most of them only accept cash, not bank transfers. Since the area is very crowded, visitors should stay alert. There are risks of pickpocketing, scams, aggressive touting, and even intimidation. It’s worth visiting once for the experience, but I personally wouldn’t consider coming back regularly.
The biggest market in the city serves both locals and tourists. It was once a beautiful market, but rapid urbanization in the 2000s has led to numerous concrete buildings popping up around causing it to lose the original Dalat vibe. What still retains the memories of the old market for locals are a few vintage stalls run by families across generations, which you can easily spot by observing (either the older owners or the signage). For tourists, be sure to keep an eye on prices and thoroughly check your items before leaving the shop. Our parents also haggled in the past :)) but they often knew the sellers personally, which built a level of trust.
I love Da Lat Market - FULL of morning energy!! The noise, the colors and smell. That's what a live Vietnam market with the freshest produce is all about.
This place is a gloriously chaotic treat for the senses. It’s an Art Deco beauty on the outside (I think), but inside? It’s a treasure hunt. Downstairs is a vibrant explosion of colors with the freshest meat, fish, and veggies you’ve ever seen and dry goods like preserved fruits, nuts, legumes, sauces etc. I got myself half a kilo of fragrant peppercorns! Upstairs, it’s a labyrinth of fabrics, clothing, and "everything-and-anything"... stuff. The vibe is wonderfully bustling—it’s loud, it’s lively, and it’s peak Dalat energy. Whatever you do, do not leave without the strawberries. Seriously. They are so fresh your taste buds will love your for that. Whether you’re there for the architecture or a light snack, the market is an absolute must-visit.
