One of the best Khao Soi I had. Knew this place was really popular so I went the moment they opened. The place didn’t have ac and it was outside but they have fans to cool you off. Got the chicken Khao soi and it was delicious. 🤤 The broth was savouring tasted like coconut but not sweet. It was spicy so do keep that in mind. I had it with Logan juice which is very sweet. Pared well with the spicy Khao soi.
My husband came to Chiang Mai almost 10 years ago and this was the first place he wanted to revisit on our trip. He remembered it as the #1 Khao Soi and I have to agree! The meat was so tender (especially the beef) and it paired perfectly with the longan juice. It was busy but had plenty of seating to accommodate!
This place feels less like a restaurant and more like someone's backyard kitchen that accidentally became really good at feeding people. You order at the counter, pay upfront, grab a seat, and when you're done, you simply leave. No waiting, no paperwork, no closing ceremony. A system so efficient it might frighten government agencies. I had the chicken khao soi and a lotus root drink. The khao soi was rich, fragrant, and smelled of coconut from halfway across the room. The problem is the lotus root drink completely stole the show. It walked in, grabbed the spotlight, and left my poor bowl of noodles competing for second place. The ladies running the place were lovely and even pointed me toward the chicken khao soi, which was an excellent recommendation. I've eaten an unreasonable amount of khao soi in Chiang Mai at this point, but I'd happily come back here to continue my very serious research into the beef and pork versions.
My food rating guide: 2.5/5 ‐-------> Average taste 5/5 ‐--------> Scrumptious! (My comfort food! 🤩) Local vibe. Khao Soi was medium bodied, lightly spicy, fragrant, and savoury. Tender chicken drumstick. Satisfying bowl. The raw onion was fresh and sweet. The salted vegetables were nice. The Thai milk tea packed a punch. Intense, fragrant, and creamy. Delicious. The meal was a 5/5 😍
After 10 odd years, not much has changed since my last visit. The lines are still long and the food just as good. Their khao soi broth has a deep orange appearance with a fragrance dominated by the coconut aroma. It's not quite as thick and heavy in taste as others I've tried but that suits my own palate more. The serving dish is quite shallow and occupied mainly by the tender chicken thigh, so the amount of cooked flat egg noodles and round crispy noodles is maybe only a handful. Unless your a big eater, that's perfect. Primarily known for its khao soi, I actually prefer the dry pork noodle more. You get the usual pork slices, meatball, minced pork bits on a bed of rice vermicelli with the soup served in a separate bowl. What makes it special is the copious amounts of fried garlic, shallots and peanut bits that add both texture and flavor. It's marginally cheaper too and my go to dish on a hot day when a bowl of spice isn't top of the list.
