I have to say, it was really nice ramen! The flavor was decent and the noodles were cooked perfectly. However, the queue is a real issue. I went there around 11:45 PM and still had to wait for about 40 minutes. While good ramen deserves a wait, I’m not likely to queue like that again. If there’s no line next time, I would definitely go back for another bowl!
Its a saturday. Went around 8pm and waited for 25mins before I was seated. I am not quite sure if its good as I am not a ramen expert. I ordered the special which had the wantons (dumplings), 3 pcs of cha su (pork belly) which are broiled. Seaweed and an egg. The egg was flavourful and yoke large and delicious. The noodles were thin and firm. Its quite light. Not sure if i loked the famous broth. Its very porky. And the signature "cuppucinno" forth on top? I was trying to figure out what it tasted like. Then it occurred to me, like brown mushroom soup cooked in pork broth. What do u think?
Hakata Issou Honten is a busy local ramen shop that’s known for its rich Hakata-style tonkotsu broth. The restaurant has a lively atmosphere, and despite the crowds, the service was fast, friendly, and efficient. The ramen was well made, although Hakata-style broth just isn’t my favorite flavor personally. The gyoza was excellent, arriving hot and fresh, and I can see why this place is popular with both locals and visitors. It’s worth trying if you’re in the area.
Like you can read in all the reviews, the broth is insanely good with strong pork aroma and the consistency is also different than the usual you get elsewhere. It has a somewhat between creamy and watery texture and it absolutely lovely. One big warning though, the portion size is really big and recommend to have it in case you are empty stomach . I am a person with normal appetite. Do not take too many add ons rather savour the taste and let your soul submerge in the umami. I ended up wasting a little noodles but drank the whole broth haha. The staff was very courteous. Oh just to specify had just their classic ramen.
Great ramen place (as Tabelog confirms). One notes: as others mentioned, you need to buy food tickets in the restaurant, then queuing. I ordered A set (with rice), the portion is more than enough. The soup was thick and tasty. I encourage adding garlic as it gives the depth (and freshness, interestingly) of the soup. Highly recommended near Hakata station.
