Natthaphon Coconut Ice Cream is one of Bangkok’s most beloved dessert shops and has been serving traditional Thai-style ice cream for more than 80 years. Now run by the fourth generation of the family, it remains a local favorite in the historic Phraeng Phuthon neighborhood. What makes this ice cream unique is its texture. Unlike typical Western-style ice cream, it has a slightly grainy, icy consistency rather than a rich, creamy one. There is very little air whipped into the mixture, giving it a lighter and more refreshing feel. It melts fairly quickly, especially compared to dairy-heavy ice cream, but that’s part of its charm. The flavors are clean, fragrant, and distinctly Thai. Rather than feeling heavy or overly sweet, the ice cream is refreshing and easy to finish, even on a hot Bangkok afternoon. My favorite flavor was the Japanese black sesame. It had a wonderfully rich sesame aroma and paired surprisingly well with sticky rice. The fresh coconut flavor was also excellent—light, fragrant, and incredibly refreshing. If you enjoy tropical fruit flavors, the Mahachanok mango ice cream is another great choice. The shop itself is simple and traditional, focusing entirely on quality rather than trendy presentation. Prices are very reasonable, starting from only 40 THB, making it an easy stop while exploring Bangkok’s old town. If you’re looking to try a classic Thai dessert with a long history and authentic flavors, Natthaphon Coconut Ice Cream is definitely worth a visit.
Been here a few times. They added new flavors to the menu. My favorites are durian, black sesame, coconut, and matcha. Will definitely come back to try other flavors as well. The ice-cream does feel icy and becomes watery when it melts, but is still full of taste. The service lady was super friendly, but the owner did not say hello back to me. The atmosphere of the place is very laid-back and quiet. It still feels like a hidden gem... 💎
Small homemade ice-cream shop in little alley at Phraeng Phuton “แพร่งภูธร“ Recommended creamy Coconut Ice-cream!! ❤️❤️❤️ Ps. Offer english menu at counter. You can order easily by writing your order on the paper placed on the table. Choose your ice cream and toppings, then hand it to the staff at the counter.
Amazing flavours, Thai tea ice cream, coconut ice cream, and of course the mango ice cream. Great flavours, nice street side corner ice cream shop. Definitely worth a visit. Located near the palace.
Delicious and very affordable! We tried the Thai milk tea and coconut flavors, and loved both. The ice cream was rich, flavorful, and not overly sweet. A perfect treat on a hot day.
