Banzaan Fresh Market
Why worth it
- Patong's main fresh market, spanning multiple floors of produce, seafood, and a lively food court
- A great spot to pick fresh seafood downstairs and have it cooked to order upstairs
- A genuinely local shopping experience just steps from Patong's tourist strip

10/6/26 - 4 stars This is your classic fresh food market with kitchen upstairs setup. It's nice to visit one in Asia where you can talk to staff in English (and therefore bargain). Unfortunately, the price of the seafood downstairs does NOT include cooking. We did nor know this, otherwise, we would have bargained harder so we did get a bit overcharged. Also, a lot of the vendors will throw in extra stuff to make a sale and they might lower the price if you give the salesperson a bit of under the table cash. Overall, hygiene might be a little questionable but it's pretty enjoyable with fresh produce everywhere. Worthwhile visiting if in the area.
I would say this is seafood heaven in Patong.. u can buy fresh seafood directly from the market and bring it to food stalls on the 1st floor to cook with charges.. all the meals were cooked well and tasty.. but price wise, Rawai is much cheaper on both seafood price and cooking charges.. highly regarded though.. 😋😋👌🏽👌🏽
You can buy seafood on the first floor, where there are many stalls. Prices are generally similar, and the seafood is very fresh. But remember to bargain—the initial prices are usually quite high. After buying your seafood, you can go to the second floor, where many restaurants will cook it for you. They charge by weight and usually include a vegetable dish and rice. The cooking is quite good as well.
Banzaan Market is Phuket’s seafood heaven, but only if you treat it like an action movie! The first floor is packed with swimmingly fresh treasures. Pro tip: vendor prices are wildly inflated. Channel your inner negotiator because you can—and should—slash their initial offer by at least 50%! Don't feel guilty; it's part of the dance. Once you win the battle, march upstairs to the second-floor kitchens. You can’t haggle much on cooking fees, but confidently demand free fried rice and morning glory. They usually give in! The lobsters are an absolute must-order, just double-check if it’s green or tiger lobster unless you want a wallet-sized surprise. The giant mantis shrimp totally blew my mind, and the crabs were decent. Skip the oysters though—they lack that premium European or Kiwi freshness. Definitely come here for the food and the hilarious bargaining drama!
So much amazing food selection, amazing prices, we feed 3 of us for around £5-6 and are so full. We go to the night market almost every night to try so many different dishes. Most places have seating area, it’s great even when raining, everyone so friendly. Opposite Bangla boxing stadium, also try the skewers, the coconut cakes and coconut ice cream
