Hidden away in a small alley, Per Aor Tom Yum Kung turned out to be one of the best food experiences I’ve had in Bangkok. Even though it’s a small shop, I was lucky there wasn’t any queue when I visited. Apparently, it’s quite a popular spot and even celebrities have patronised the place. Their tom yum soup was honestly one of the nicest I’ve ever tasted — rich, flavourful, and perfectly balanced. The fish porridge was fantastic and comforting, while the prawn roll was crispy and delicious. One dish that really stood out to me was the prawn omelette served with rice and ketchup — simple, homely, and somehow reminded me of home in the best way possible. Definitely worth seeking out if you’re around the area. A true hidden gem in Bangkok. Probably we also over ordered alittle just for 2 person, anyway it is truly a comfort meal.
There was no line when we came here and ordered one with marinated pork and wonton. The broth was tasty, not too light and not heavy so it's perfect in between, the portion was pretty big too. I highly recommend ordering the Tom Yum with wontons. Their wontons were the best part of my meal when we were here. They were really good, they're soft, bouncy with thin wrapper, and very savory. The fried shrimp we ordered was pretty tasty, though it's not mind blowing. It's just peeled shrimp wrapped in wonton skin then fried and served with sweet chilli dipping sauce. But it's good for extra crunch to pair with the Tom Yum. 10/10 wontons would come here again just to get the wontons
The restaurant is small but the tom yum noodle is good. The portion is small for a big eater. The staff was very attentive. When I was struggling with the prawn, a waiting staff just came and gave me the plastic gloves without me even asking. Good experience overall. For 2 people, we paid 320B for 2 bowls of noodle and 2 drinks.
Indo tourist in here! Trying out Thailand signature food which is Tom Yum soup. This places located in the small alley and with a barely any sign except the one in front of the shop. Surprisingly, tourist keep coming over and over even when it's past over dinner time. Their signature is the lobster tomyum noodle, but if it feels too much we still can order their regular prawn tom yum. The portion is quite big for an adult. We tried the signature soup which is has an extra shrimp fat in the soup. The soup taste is very cream and rich of flavour. Noodles were made not too soft and still chewy enough. Toppings are generous and quite full on the bowl. The place is not that big, but tables are available. It is not too recommended for people in big group since the table is quite small. 2-4 people at most will be perfect group. They are short on English speaking staff, so in the busy time we can just point out the menu and maybe asking for a very simple and basic english. Overall this is a tourist spot and highly recommended for people when visiting Thailand.
This was my first meal in Bangkok right after I landed, and it ended up being one of the highlights of my entire trip. In fact, I loved it so much that I came back again before flying home! Without exaggeration, this is the best tom yum I've ever had. During my stay in Bangkok, I tried tom yum at several other restaurants, and I've had many versions back in my own country as well. Nothing came close to the flavor at Pe Aor. The broth was rich, fragrant, perfectly balanced between spicy, sour, and creamy, and packed with seafood flavor. One thing I really liked was that you can choose your preferred noodle type. My favorite combination was the egg noodles with the tom yum soup. I also tried their clear tom yum version, which was lighter but still full of flavor and equally delicious. The fresh coconut drink was another highlight. Bangkok's weather can be very hot, and the cold coconut was incredibly refreshing. It paired perfectly with the spicy tom yum. The restaurant itself is air-conditioned, which made dining much more comfortable. The dining area is relatively small, so it can feel a little crowded during busy periods. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to get a table immediately on both visits without having to wait. The owner/staff spoke good English, making ordering easy for international visitors. We also ordered several side dishes to complement the tom yum noodles, and everything we tried was enjoyable. If I return to Bangkok in the future, Pe Aor will definitely be one of my first stops again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable tom yum experience.
