Good, but not excellent nor mind-blowing by any means, in my personal opinion. 🤨 At 9am++, the restaurant was already relatively busy. It was a relatively big restaurant, and there were more than 10 attendants busying away taking orders, serving, replenishing the meats on display, manning the soup area, cleaning after… I ordered a combination plate of crispy pork (good), char siew or what local Thais called red pork (average), slices of pork sausage and an egg, halved (perfect)—doused in a brownish gravy (average). ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The first bowl of broiled soup (that came out of a metal steamer) that I ordered had pieces of duck and a couple of chunks of white Chinese radish. Because of what I believed to be made with bottled lime juice instead of preserved sour plums that Singaporeans and Malaysians would use, I was not accustomed to the taste—which actually unpleasantly jolted me taste buds and brains. This soup tasted extremely odd. I did not like it. Unfortunately, being a brat, I ditched it… 😩😏😟 I ordered a second soup, that had few pieces of small pieces of pork ribs (succulent 👍) and bitter gourd. This soup was better overall—a familiar one, and though starkly evident, the bitterness of the soup was kinder to my taste buds and brain... ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Honestly, I had tried better, in particular, a version that I personally found more satisfying in one of the backstreets of the popular Banthat Thong called J Soay Char Siew Rice because of its char, dark red gravy—and that was an accidental find a week ago. If only I could remember where it was… 😅

This is, hands down, my all-time number one for crispy pork and red pork rice. I highly recommend ordering the special version with an egg. It currently costs 160 baht, and this special dish sells out quickly because it uses a different cut of pork compared to the regular menu. If you come around 11 AM, there’s a chance it might already be sold out due to its popularity. The shop is not air-conditioned, but the service is very fast and efficient. Most importantly, they accept cash only.

Pretty good, but the roast pork needs some work! Came here for the roasted pork on rice and honestly it was a mixed bag. The boiled egg? Absolutely nailed it — super perfect. The crispy pork was decent enough, no complaints there. But the roast pork itself was way too sticky for my liking, not really what I was expecting from a roast pork rice. Now the pork stomach soup with preserved cabbage — that thing totally made my morning. So refreshing and just hits the spot, especially early in the day. Give the roast pork a little more love and this place would be a solid go-to

I have been here on 3 separate occasions between years of visiting Bangkok, and it has never disappointed me. Their sauce was thick, yet it's not as sweet as other Khao mu daeng places. Pork was crispy and overall, the dish was tasty. Staff know very little English, but you'll live by in Bangkok by pointing, so it's no big deal. Also, we came here around 9am, yet all the staff were busy for an unending take-out orders (approx 100 bags prepared on the duration of my breakfast). A testament that not only tourists eat here, even locals.

The Wednesday and Sunday limited soup is delicious, and the main dish is a bit sweet but good
