File this under “UGLY BUT DELICIOUS “. 🤣 Roasted Pork Rice (Khao Moo Krob) at a famous stall in Talat Phlu Food Market - SUNEE RED PORK RICE. I have read that they have been in business for more than 60years! In my humble opinion, they actually put too much red gravy. Makes the dish a little sweet. Still, a highly enjoyable one plate meal. ❤️

Despite of local legend, this stall is not eye-catching, not a fancy stall. Slipped in so many street food stalls around Talat Phlu underbridge food market. Not so friendly seller also, understand a little English but no smile at all. Their crispy pork, red pork and sausages are just okay, dipping sauce is good but they gave just a few, Ambience is simple and humble. You got extra view train passes by. Price is cheap.

Sunee Red Pork Rice has been a staple in Bangkok’s vibrant Talat Phlu neighborhood for over 60 years, and its reputation continues to grow. With a solid 4-star rating on Google Maps, backed by over 845 reviews, this unassuming stall proves that exceptional street food can endure the test of time. Nestled next to the Mahachai-Wongwian Yai railway line, the stall serves a beloved version of Kao Moo Dang, a Thai classic that celebrates the tender goodness of red-braised pork. At the heart of the dish is the red-braised pork, expertly cooked in a savory-sweet sauce that imparts a deep, complex flavor. The pork slices are tender and melt-in-your-mouth, harmonizing perfectly with the subtle sweetness of the sauce. The dish also features Chinese sausage and char siew, each contributing their own texture and taste, alongside fragrant rice drenched in the signature red pork sauce. The rice, paired with refreshing cucumber slices, provides a perfect balance to the richness of the meat, ensuring a well-rounded, satisfying meal. The sweet sauce—though it may appear spicy—carries a pleasantly mild sweetness that enhances the natural flavors of the pork without overwhelming the palate. For those seeking an added layer of depth, a sprinkle of fragrant dark soy sauce completes the dish, elevating it to another level of deliciousness. The experience at Sunee Red Pork Rice is more than just a meal; it’s a taste of local culture. Situated near the train tracks, the stall exudes an authentic, bustling street food atmosphere. Locals frequently queue up for take-out or eat in, which speaks volumes about the consistent quality and flavor of the food. The friendly stall owner ensures guests feel welcome, guiding them to their seats and serving condiments like dark soy sauce and chili, while an English menu caters to non-native speakers. For just 50 baht for the regular-sized portion and 60 baht for the large version I ordered, the dish offers exceptional value for money. The portion is generous, and though the rice could be improved with the use of jasmine rice, this is a minor detail in an otherwise near-perfect dish. With a legacy spanning over six decades and a loyal customer base, Sunee Red Pork Rice remains a standout in Bangkok’s street food scene. Its quality, consistency, and warm hospitality make it a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Thai comfort food.

The taste is so so but the portion is quite generous for a big plate of crispy pork rice at 55thb. Bonus point, Drinks stall nearby selling lotus roots juice for only 15thb.

One of the best red pork rice shops in Bangkok with savory taste and not much sweet. Great red pork, crispy pork, and Chinese sausage
