Located on Hoàng Sa Street in Sai Gon Ward, Phở Phượng is not only a long-standing pho restaurant but also a Michelin Selected spot, offering a refined Vietnamese dining experience. The highlight here is definitely the broth, clear, naturally sweet from simmered bones, and free from the overly strong sweetness of industrial seasoning. The flavor is rich yet balanced, staying enjoyable until the very last spoonful without becoming overwhelming. The ingredients are also high quality. The beef was fresh and tender, cooked just enough to keep its natural sweetness. The pho noodles were soft while still slightly chewy, not mushy at all. The fresh herbs and vegetables were clean and vibrant, and the satay sauce was especially delicious. Adding a bit of lime and chili really elevated the whole bowl. The price is a little higher compared to regular pho places, but considering the prime District 1 location, clean space, canal-side atmosphere, and Michelin-recognized quality, I think it’s completely worth it. Definitely one of the best pho spots to try in Saigon if you’re looking for a traditional yet polished bowl of pho. However, one downside during my visit was the service. My group of five ordered different bowls with several special requests, such as no spring onion or cilantro for some dishes. The staff didn’t write the orders down and assured us they could remember everything, but when the food arrived, some bowls were incorrect. We had to wait longer for them to fix the orders, which affected the overall experience a bit.
Pho Phuong serves a very good bowl of pho with a rich, flavorful broth and fresh ingredients. The beef was tender, the noodles had a nice texture, and the herbs added great freshness. The taste was balanced and comforting without being overly salty. Service was friendly, and the overall dining experience was enjoyable. I would definitely come back again.
Great for street side. They even have ac blowers trying to beat the crazy heat. Great pho. Fab clear soup. Oxtail was interesting. Beef rib can be missed. Too chewy. Balls and flank and brisket superb.
My grand parent ate here since they were dating until my generation - grandson. The store is still located there, have some branches, the owner is still the same family and I am happy that they got the 3rd year of Michelin guide. The location is so nice and fresh, they have the shade for either sunny or rainy days. The staffs are friendly and fast service, the price is a bit high but worth the quality around 80k per bowl. The stock is cooked with thick bones so very “bony sweet”. I like this store because it’s nostalgia taste and nice view. My score is 8.5/10. Highly recommended for international friends
Pho Phuong in Ho Chi Minh City was genuinely delicious and easy to enjoy. The broth was clean, rich, and well balanced, and the overall bowl felt very refined without losing the comforting, classic pho experience. It was definitely better than most of the pho we get back in Australia, with a fresher taste and a lighter finish. That said, I would not say it was dramatically better to the point that it completely outclassed good pho back home. What really stood out to me was how I felt afterwards. Unlike some soups in Australia that can leave me feeling thirsty or dehydrated, this one did not. It tasted full of flavour without feeling overly heavy or loaded with salt. A very good bowl of pho and well worth trying.
