Taiko Sushi Minami

A must try sushi restaurant when you are in the Shinsekai Osaka! With 1000yen (as of May'26) , you are able to taste 8 variants of sushi freshly made right in front of you. And as low as 150yen per sushi dish. Also must try the miso soup. Slight long queue when I visit. The shop is small, narrow but you are can feel the local atmosphere with it, because locals usually visit after work. Recommend not to visit near the closing time, cause the sushi option may sold out.

Best price/value Sushi I've ever seen so far, 3 pieces of Tuna Nigiri for just 150¥, absolutely insane. The other Nigiris were also very fairly/cheaply priced. Only downside on this restaurant visit was: the Wasabi in the Nigiri was sometimes perfect, sometimes too much, sometimes not enough. I personally rate it 4.4 (big part is the price) (visited on 15.10.2025)

The sushi at Taiko Sushi Minami was delicious and incredibly good value for money. Every piece was fresh and carefully prepared, and you can really taste the quality. The atmosphere is cozy and authentic — you can feel that this restaurant has been around for a long time and is full of character. Ordering is done the traditional way, by writing your selections on a small paper sheet, which adds to the charm. It’s simple, local, and very welcoming. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic, affordable sushi in Osaka with a nostalgic touch. We truly enjoyed our meal here!

The prices make perfect sense — honestly, it feels cheaper than any similar restaurant I’ve ever been to. I highly recommend coming here!
