When we arrived at 1pm on a Friday, there was already a snaking queue. We eventually got our food at 1:30pm so it wasn’t all that bad. The queuing, purchasing and eating here at Hanadako Takoyaki Umeda Osaka, had quite an established process… Queuing. Once you join the queue, the staff will pass you a menu in Japanese. Thanks to Google translate and Google lens, perhaps that’s why the staff decided to print many Japanese menus instead. We scanned through the menu and found that there were a few things that you should note. Firstly, there are 2 main items on the menu. The original Takoyaki and the version will an avalanche of Spring onions on top. There is actually a third item but according to the menu and Google translate, it is only available for takeaway because it is like a taco with Takoyaki within. You’re not allowed to eat that at the stall.Architecture Purchasing. In terms of purchasing, the same menu also tells you that priority... Tucked away in the bustling Umeda district of Osaka, 'Hanadako' offers an experience that transcends a simple street snack. You might be initially intimidated by the long queue snaking outside, but waiting in that line is truly part of the pilgrimage to taste their legendary 'Negimayo (Green Onion & Mayonnaise) Takoyaki'. The moment the steaming hot takoyaki is placed in your hand, the fresh aroma of spring onions and the rich scent of mayonnaise promise an extraordinary treat. Taking a bite reveals a perfect contrast: the exterior is lightly chewy, while the molten interior is so soft and creamy it almost melts on the tongue. The generous, mountainous layer of crisp green onions is the key differentiator here, cutting through the richness beautifully and adding a refreshing, pungent balance to the savory dough and the tender piece of octopus inside. This specific harmonious blend elevates the humble takoyaki into a sophisticated, addictive delicacy—a must-try for any food lover visiting the culinary heart of Osaka.
The best takoyaki i’ve eat at Osaka! Taste very good and i love the spring onion, it makes takoyaki hits different and taste better. Minus is, octopus is small. Queue about 20 minutes.
Man, don't miss the Takoyaki here if you visit Osaka so make sure to dine in. I've tried plenty but the taste and texture satisfied me. Pretty solid
By far the best takoyaki we had during our Japan trip! There’s always a queue so you may have to allow yourself a bit more time when visiting this place. You can choose to have it there or order takeaway. If you are going to order it to go, you cannot eat it nearby. Takeaway queues are far shorter than dine-in. So I ordered it as takeaway and had it at the hotel. I ordered both original takoyaki and negi-mayo. Negi-mayo is a must-try. The spring onion adds so much to the flavour. Takoyaki also has a big portion of octopus inside. This creates a nice chewy texture. I would personally recommend it having it there if you have time to spare, rather than takeaway. I feel it would be a whole lot nicer eating it hot on the spot. Mind you, having it after 10 minutes was excellent also!! It was still hot enough to feel the warmth. Highly highly recommend this place! Will definitely be back to have some more on our next trip.
