Shinsekai Kushikatsu Ittoku, Dotonbori Main Store

I went here with my wife for lunch. Great food. The Kobe beef was great, and so was the service. We both enjoyed all of the dishes pictures. When we went, at around 4 pm, there was ample seating, but the acoustics were a bit bad. One kid could be heard across the whole place, but what can you expect from a small place like this. So id say the overall atmosphere saved it If you don't mind paying a little extra for quality, and expect smaller portions than the pictures lead you to believe, this is definitely a nice recommendation.

Right in the thick of Dotonbori, Shinsekai Kushikatsu Ittoku, Dotonbori Main Store (新世界串カツいっとく道頓堀本店) is a very tourist- and foreigner-friendly place for kushikatsu. There’s an English menu available and ordering is done via an app, so you don’t need to worry about language barriers. Despite being busy and tourist-heavy, service was efficient and well organised, which makes for a smooth, no-stress dining experience. The kushikatsu we had — lotus root, chicken, mushroom and cheese — were all properly fried with a light, crisp coating that wasn’t greasy. The lotus root kept a nice crunch, the chicken was juicy, the mushroom was moist, and the cheese skewer had that satisfying molten centre. You can choose how to season them, and the salt option was excellent, bringing out the natural flavours without overpowering. The classic brown, soy-based dipping sauce was also very good — savoury, slightly sweet, and perfect with the crisp batter. The yakisoba on the side was comforting and well-seasoned, with tender pork and cabbage coated in a familiar savoury-sweet sauce.

A great place to try Osaka’s famous kushikatsu! The skewers were freshly fried, crispy on the outside and tender inside. We especially enjoyed the beef and chicken skewers, and the overall flavor was really satisfying. The atmosphere was lively and very Osaka, and the location in Dotonbori makes it super convenient. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re looking for an authentic kushikatsu experience in Osaka.

The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Definitely a great place to enjoy good food and drinks with friends or family. Wowwww this place was so fun! We had the veggie pancake thing with beef on top- it was so fresh and delicious. The kimchi spread was also yummy, the radish was my favorite. Food was served in under five minutes. So good!
