A true Dotonbori icon! The takoyaki here is a total guilty pleasure. The Food: The takoyaki is delicious and very flavorful. One thing to keep in mind: the inside is extremely hot, so be very careful when taking your first bite! The Menu: They offer a great variety of fillings and styles. You can go for the classic octopus or try something different like the cheesy mozzarella version. Vibe: The open kitchen setup is fun to watch while you wait for your order. It’s a must-try snack when you are exploring the area!
Very disappointing experience at Kukuru in Dotonbori. The takoyaki was far below expectations. It did not taste fresh, the texture was soggy, and the flavor was bland considering the premium price. For a restaurant with such a reputation, the food quality was extremely underwhelming. The service was even more disappointing. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, customers were still asked to wait outside for a table, which made no sense. The staff were not welcoming and appeared uninterested in serving customers. When it was time to pay, I politely asked for the bill, only to be told with a poker face to go outside and pay at the counter. There was no courtesy, no appreciation, and no effort to make customers feel welcome. Overall, overpriced food, poor service, and an unfriendly atmosphere. There are many better takoyaki places in Osaka that offer fresher food and much better hospitality. I would not return and cannot recommend this restaurant.
The takoyaki was decent but a bit lacking in flavor. I liked the atmosphere and the servers were friendly. One thing I enjoyed was being able to add the sauce and toppings myself, including the bonito flakes. The takoyaki pieces were big, but the octopus inside was quite small since we ordered the regular version. We also ordered karaage as a side dish, and the chicken was good. Overall, it was okay and nice to try, but compared to other takoyaki places I’ve tried, it was pretty average and I probably wouldn’t go back again.
Honestly this place don't deserve a 1 star review. Let's make it simple. I bought a 12 pack and I threw the whole pack down the garbage in front of them in front of all the customers who were waiting. It was not gooey. The inside was not cook properly and when I brought it to their attention and they dare to tell me it is ok to eat. I was very civilized and not made an ungly scene.
Oily, moist takoyaki withkut mich flavor. BUT it was really cool to watch them make it 100% fresh, every step of the way. That being said, it was a long wait because they made the special takoyaki to order.
