The cheesecake from here is very famous - it’s the most well known version of Japanese cheesecake that exists. There is pretty much always a line, at least for the fresh baked cheesecake. I was able to get one after about a 15 minute wait. The first thing you immediately notice is the shape and feel. It’s unlike any cheesecake, and unlike any cake for that matter. The bounciness, the fluffiness, and yes, the jiggly-ness is wholly unique. When you get it after baking, it’s completely filled with air pockets inside. This is what creates the viral texture of the cake. There’s no crust either like normal cheesecake. Taste-wise, the first bite I felt didn’t taste like anything. It was super light, but just felt like egg whites mixed with some air. However, it was later on that I kept eating that I really began to appreciate this cake. The lightness makes each bite very tame, but the flavors add up in your mouth. You start the feel the softness, taste the light cream cheese, notice the egg involved, and appreciate the texture. The best way I can describe it is that it’s just addicting to eat. Once you start taking bites, you can’t stop. I would absolutely recommend getting only the fresh-baked ones though, as once a hour or so hits, the air inside goes away and it sort of collapses. This creates a very different texture that’s nowhere close to as good as when it’s fresh. Trust me, the line may be long compared to the non-existent one for pre-made cakes, but there’s a reason people wait in it. Also the whole cheesecake was just over 1000 yen. That’s a great deal Overall, I can’t call it the best cheesecake I’ve ever had, but it’s a very different version of it that accomplishes exactly what it wants. 8.75/10
If you’re visiting Osaka, Rikuro Ojisan’s cheesecake is a must-try! We waited in line for a freshly baked cake, and it was absolutely worth it. Watching the cheesecakes come straight out of the oven adds to the experience. The cake is incredibly light, fluffy, and jiggly with a delicate sweetness that isn’t overpowering. The raisins hidden at the bottom add a nice surprise and pair perfectly with the creamy texture. The staff kept the line moving efficiently, and despite the crowd, the service was friendly and organized. We highly recommend getting the freshly baked cheesecake while it’s still warm—it melts in your mouth. This has become one of our favorite food experiences in Osaka, and we’ll definitely be back on our next trip!
Definitely worth the queue! There are actually two lines: one for the freshly baked jiggly cheesecakes and another for cheesecakes that have had a “little time to cool down”. In my case, both queues were about the same length, so I went for the freshly baked one. The cheesecake was very good, incredibly fluffy, light and soft, with a nice eggy flavor. Despite looking quite rich, it doesn’t feel heavy at all. If you’re in Osaka and you like sweets, this jiggly cheesecake is definitely something you should try at least once!
Absolutely worth the queue. Rikuro Ojisan’s cheesecake is one of the best food experiences we had in Osaka. Watching the cheesecakes being baked fresh right in front of you adds to the whole atmosphere. The cheesecake itself was incredibly light, fluffy and delicate with just the right amount of sweetness. Fresh out of the oven, it practically melts in your mouth. The subtle raisin base gives it a unique touch without overpowering the flavour. The staff were efficient, friendly and kept the long line moving smoothly. You can immediately see why this place is so famous. A must-visit in Namba for anyone visiting Osaka.
Experience was good as it was a rainy day so we got the cake in 10 min as not many people were there. We got the famous jiggly cake and saw it made and packed. It costed 1095 yen. You have to make a reservation to sit and have it. Else just take away. The moment of truth, the cake we found was ok ok as i m personally not the cheesecake fan. However my daughter liked it and she managed to dig in.
