Some of the best takoyaki I've ever had. This is not the rush job stuff you get in Dotonbori. They have a crisp outside, super fluffy inside. Take about 20min to fully cook. No negi, no mayo, no katsuobushi. Tare is optional.
THEY PUT ON A SHOW AND THEN YOU GET TO EAT THE STARS · VIBE CHECK this isn't a counter service joint, it's a full culinary theater. the takoyaki is made right in front of you on the griddle, which is half the fun. you can grab a seat at the tables inside for a proper, relaxed meal, or do the classic stand-and-devour move outside. the energy is immaculate and focused on the main event. THE OSAKA ORIGIN STORY so, what makes osaka's style so special? it's all about the textural drama. imagine a crispy, almost fragile golden shell that gives way to a soft, creamy, and slightly gooey interior. inside, you'll find generous pieces of tender octopus. it's then dressed with a savory-sweet sauce, mayo, bonito flakes, and seaweed. this, friends, is the blueprint. THE ORDERING PROTOCOL keep it simple but know the rules. first, it's cash only, so have your bills ready. second, here is the key policy: you must order 8 pieces per person to claim a spot at the tables inside. if you're not down for that commitment, your other option is to eat outside standing. it's a delicious quick bite either way, but the seated experience is a major vibe. THE FINAL SIMMER watching the craft happen in real time is elite. for a legit, textbook-perfect osaka takoyaki experience that you can enjoy in proper seated comfort, this place is an absolute yes. just come ready to meet the eight-piece minimum. it's a small price for a front-row seat to deliciousness. · peep the images for your ref; they’re worth a thou. make sure to ❤️ !
Had a “takoyaki crawl” in my recent Osaka trip. I’ll place this humble takoyaki place featured in Netflix on top of my list. Their no frills, crispy on the outside, right chewy in the inside takoyaki is a must try. Mind you, this is not one of those Netflix-featured food spots turned tourist trap. In fact, they sell their takoyaki cheaper than most.
Just like the description by Gemini, this squid 🦑 ball is the best - crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside
Takoyaki Umaiya is worth trying once, but it’s not amazing. Cash only, and you have to buy at least 8 pieces. Very affordable, great for a quick and simple snack.
