Hands down the best khao soi I've ever had. A bit spicier than I thought. But don't mind sweating buckets for something so delish. Iced coffee was good too. But I don't really know for sure. I needed it to help me thru the heat of the day and the khao soi. Hahaha. One serving is not enough. Maybe already order two bowls. If you think you're hungry. I had another not spicy option hahah. Was really happy we tried this. ❤️ Loved the ambience by the way. Place was clean and well lit/bright even. But loved how the sun hugs the place. We were lucky there weren't any lines when we came. Lots of locals eating so you know you're into something good.
฿150 ($4.56 USD) for 2 khao soi chicken, Thai tea, & lemon Thai tea. This place came highly recommended by travel vloggers. It’s Michelin rated for the last 4 years. Grandmas cooking up the food on the side and the host is organized. When you arrive, you grab a pager number and wait to be seated. You may end up sharing a table! You order on a paper and they bring the food out quickly. The khao soi chicken was delicious. Slightly spicy but nothing too crazy. The Thai tea was so good and refreshing (different from Thai milk tea). For ฿55 you can’t go wrong. It’s a decent portion size and I was satisfied!
Khao Soi Maesai is one of the institutions in Chiangmai. Well before Michelin found this place, it’s already well known among the locals and in-the-know visitors and foodies. Located in a tradition shop house in the local area just across from the trendy Nimman, the restaurant already get crowded during lunch time. Michelin recognition basically make the queue even crazier. Try to avoid lunch hour if possible. While the cooking time is efficient, it can still be too long of a wait. But the food is definitely worth the wait. Cooked the same way for decades with their own secret twist, the taste of the broth is thick with flavors, umami overload if you will. I would go for stewed beef version of the Khao soy as it’s cooked to very nice tenderness. A must stop for any foodies visiting Chiangmai just be aware of the crowd and choose off peak period to avoid frustration. At 60 THB per bowl it’s nearly impossible to find better combo of price and taste
This restaurant receives a Michelin recommendation every year, and it's always packed with people, so you'll likely have to wait in line for about 10 minutes. However, the food comes out very quickly. I ordered the curry beef noodles; the beef was incredibly tender and flavorful.
This restaurant is listed in the Michelin Guide and serves good khao soi. The soup is rich and flavorful and you can choose your preferred type of meat. The price is reasonable. It can get very crowded in the afternoon, so I recommend going in the morning to avoid long queues. They accept cash and Thai bank transfer is available only for bills over 150 baht. There is no parking, you may need to park along the street or use paid parking across the road (around 20–30 baht). There’s also no waiting area, so if it’s busy, you’ll need to stand and wait outside.
