This place opens in the early evening around 5pm and we walked all the way from Chinatown nearby. As we reached the operator were still setting up the stall and so we took a table and patiently waited in anticipation as more and more people came by to take over tables beside us. There was just a simple menu to order - fish ball noodles with sides of mostly fish dumplings or fish maw soup. We ordered what most people ordered which was the staple fish ball noodles soup. It came quickly enough in a small portion filled with fish ball, fish cake & fish dumplings. We also added fish cake & fish dumplings as side. The noodles texture was springly and soup base was lightly flavored. I like it. Overall you come to satisfy your fish ball noodles craving and move on. Not much of an atmosphere to stay longer as the stalls and tables are set up between two buildings.
An absolute must-visit in Bangkok! The handmade fish balls are incredibly bouncy and packed with authentic, clean flavor. Whether you get the classic soup or the dry version with springy egg noodles, it’s always a flawless meal. Fast, delicious, and one of the best Michelin Bib Gourmand street-eats in the city. Highly recommended! Price is reasonable at 60baht
Absolutely disappointed. 😩 Guess I had too high an expectation given that it’s a Michelin Bib Gourmand laureate. Simple, yes. Delicious, no. I asked for a egg noodle, dry version (Ba Mee, Heng). Instead, I was served a thin rice noodle (Sen Lek) one, in soup. The waiter was adamant that it was me who made the mistake. I didn’t want to argue. The fish balls weren’t as soft to the bite as other reviewers said. The soup was bland, and lacked the Umami I had hoped for. Apart from pickled green chillies, pepper and fish sauce, there weren’t any other Thai condiments on the table. Can’t remember if there was sugar on the side, which I never use anyway. Perhaps, the owner wanted to maintain a clean taste, and not have any spicy chillies kill his creation. Apologies, I just don’t have anything nice to say about it. Just 50 Baht though…. But, the price befits what was put in front of me. Nothing impressive. Further, the fish ball noodles seemed to be cooked and put together by young attendants, not the stall owner or a proper chef. Hmmm… More foreigners than locals. Hmm… P.S. Honestly, I have had better, such as the other Lim Lao Sar Fish Ball Noodles just 5mins walk away. Of all the 4 big names serving fish ball noodles here at Yaowarat, Lim Lao Ngow is unfortunately my least favourite. I am sure Lim Lao Ngow will still remain widely popular, regardless.
After concert its already very late. The store also already done closing preparation. But when we go in, they still welcome us and serve the food. Impeccable service. I think this only applicable in countries where they put people first, not profit. And this is not a mere noodle shop. It is quite famous in Bangkok. And the noodle taste soooo gewdd. I am sold
Trying out this Michelin award noodles in Yaowarat, Bangkok. The place was literally full house when we arrived. Fortunately, we didn’t wait long before we got our seats. We ordered the egg noodles (dry version) Probably 15 minutes, we were served with couple portions of dry noodles without accompanied side soup. Noodles had a chewy texture with bit of alkaline note. However we found that the noodles were abit dry & we should probably order a soup to go with. Enjoyed the bouncy fishball & fishcake, I liked that fishball dumpling had that familiar solefish flavour, along with sesame oil. The jovial owner, demonstrated how bouncy his fishball was even though he was occupied with his loads.
