Saw this on the Michelin Guide in Ho Chi Minh, and as a seafood lover, I thought I should visit this place for a try. Visited on a weekend about 2pm and the place was so crowded and busy. Thank god there wasn't any queue and a table of diners just left and I got that table immediately. This restaurant specializes in crab dishes so most of the dishes have crab in it. The other half of the menu is mainly prawns, so you can substitute the crabs for prawns if you don't like them. Settled for a crab vermicelli soup and a soft shell fried crab and a kamquat juice. The kamquat just was very refreshing and cooling especially for Ho Chi Minh hot and humid weather. Came the crab vermicelli soup. I initially wanted to order the dry one but the portion seemed big (not sure if they have smaller one) cause people from other tables were sharing it. And in the Michelin Guide they actually recommended the soup one so could try the soup. Soup was light, a little taste of crab, vermicelli was pretty good cause they absorb the soup flavours well. There was quite a bit of crab in the soup but do eat with caution as there were still bits of crab shell. Shared a table with a Korean, he wanted to try so many things and ordered too much for one person that the staff told him he couldn't finish alone. So he ordered the crab spring roll and I shared my fried soft shell crab with him. The soft shell crab was really good when eaten just being served. It complemented the sweet chilli sauce very well. Got to try the crab spring roll and it was also pretty good, one of the older staff came to teach us how to eat it with the noodles and the greens. Overall a very good meal. If you want to try more things do come as a group to order and share. Some commented it's expensive but come on you are eating crabs here! I think it's justified for the price of eating seafood and the portions are really big and value for money. Worth a visit!
The stir-fried glass noodles with crab were absolutely delicious! It was packed with generous chunks of crab meat, and we simply couldn’t stop eating. 🦀 The deep-fried soft-shell crab was fresh, juicy, and unlike any soft-shell crab I’ve had before. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Definitely worth the visit. I would happily come back again! 😋
5 stars for big portions. However it’s just not to my taste. I prefer the Thai or Malaysian way of cooking. Also bless the person who painstakingly peeled all the crabs. Boss lady let me sit outside cos I wanted to. Traditional al fresco Asian dining just like the ol days. If you’re Malaysian and reading this review, the soft shell crab tastes like cucur 🤣😆. Yum
I think i expected too much and was a little disappointed. There was nothing wrong with the food. I had the crab vermicelli which was packed with lots of crab. And washed it down with coconut water. I also took the leftovers home because it was such a large portion. Additionally, I packed crab claws and some fried crab. The vermicelli could have had more sauce, which was to my taste. Service was attentive, fast and friendly. I'd go again!
Had to update review, if I can go lower than 1 star, I would. My wife felt sick afterwards and had severe stomach ache. Mentioned that the crab did not taste fresh, could have been outside too long. Let get real honest, came here for lunch because everyone said it was worth the price, but I know Cua (crab) is more expensive but the prices don’t justify the value. We had 4 dishes for 3 persons. Will give you the price and thoughts on each item we got. • Crab soup - 120k, small bowl, mostly egg and a bit of crab, underwhelming • Crab rolls - ordered 3 (50k each for total of 150k) best part of the meal • Stir fried rice with crab (230k) very dry and flavourless, rice way too dry. Was drinking a lot of water to flush it down my throat. • Noodles with crab (260k) also dry and no flavour. Definitely not worth it. Total 760k for 3 persons Not good value for the price! Yes, could be just an outlier, Michelin recommended, but I disagree with that. Try it yourself but temper your expectations.
