ขาหมูตรอกซุงบางรัก
Why worth it
- A roughly 60-year-old Bang Rak institution specializing in khao kha moo (stewed pork leg over rice)
- Slow-braised pork leg so tender it falls off the bone, served with a rich five-spice-and-soy braising sauce
- One of Bangkok's most enduring old-school pork-leg-rice shops, still run under the original recipe

Tasty pork leg with rich, authentic flavors and good-quality ingredients. The meat is tender, the skin is perfectly soft, and the sauce is delicious. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Bang Rak.
The pork meat was tenders the skin just melts in your mouth. The radish and soft one rib soup was delicious, not too sweet, not too salty, just nice with porky flavour. The soft one was really soft I like the bones to be chewable. Seems like a family-run eatery, the neighbours bring their baby here and the lady-servers all interacted with the baby gleefully. This is communal. The community spirit that most big cities lack. An authentic atmosphere along the alley ways of Bangkok.
The pork — including the meat, skin, and tendons — is excellent quality, not scraps. The dipping sauce is very tasty with plenty of yellow chili, and the garlic is fresh, clean, and cut into large pieces. The fresh chili is great, and the clear soup is simple but very pleasant.
The pork knuckle is tender yet delightfully springy, with rich collagen that melts in mouth. The meat is juicy, flavourful, and perfectly braised. Paired with the tangy, spicy dipping sauce, it creates a perfect balance of flavours. If I ever crave a stew pork knuckle rice in Bangkok, this will definitely be my go-to spot!
Located in the quiet street, the open dining area is wide, cool and cozy. No queue, no waiting time, when I visited that time. Their stewed pork is ok, the meat smells good, bit sweet and tender. Even though the presentation was not that good. Service bit bad, no greeting, no smile to customer, as Thai did, seems like they need no one. Pricewise, slightly higher than the competitors around Silom. Recommended.
