Hassei

A great little hole in the wall Okonomiyaki restaurant that is welcoming to both locals and tourists alike; heads up, we arrived when it opened at 5:30 PM and by 6 or 6:10 the restaurant was filled. Very popular. We ordered the hassei okonomiyaki served with udon and a few teppanyaki dishes—oysters and ribs. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly. I strongly recommend sitting at the counter; watching the chefs work is so interesting.

We had a fantastic experience at Hassei. The okonomiyaki here is incredibly delicious, with options ranging from the traditional Hiroshima-style to the popular Hassei special topped with bacon and cheese. The portions are generous and very satisfying. The service was warm and attentive, making the whole dining experience even better. The interior is cozy and charming, and one of the unique touches is the walls filled with messages written by customers, which adds a fun and personal atmosphere. Seating inside is quite limited, so it’s best to arrive early or make a reservation to secure a spot. Overall, a wonderful place for authentic okonomiyaki and a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!

One of the best meals we had our entire Japan trip! Super friendly staff and my partner was able to get his gluten free, which was incredible! Great vibe, food, drinks, and staff

came here without reservation and were given a reservation to come back for - very very efficient! the staff were so so lovely and accommodating, very strongly recommend for anyone gluten free, they have separate sauces without gluten and a gluten free okonomiyaki! the okonomiyaki was so amazing and filling, and the teppanyaki options were endless and just as good! i have a full belly and a happy mind. i can’t recommend this place enough, thank you very very much for the delicious and memorable meal!!!

We had dinner on a Thursday night after a long day and the atmosphere of the place had been super warm and welcoming! The personnel is very kind and always smiling and the food is DELICIOUS! We have eaten two okonomiyaki (one with soba and one with udon) and a starter that we shared: all was amazing and we have had a wonderful experience! Highly recommended :)
