I would say a unique experience. Pickup up a few memorabilia and had lunch at the food stalls beside the market. Carry a hat for sure. The speed boats are cool and colorful. If you have the time, its a good outing. There is a good amount of crowd, but many many boats, so you don't have to wait too long to get a ride.
I visited Damnoen Saduak Floating Market together with my husband and kids during our Thailand trip, and it was a very interesting and memorable cultural experience. Riding the boat through the canals while seeing local vendors selling food, fruits, drinks, and souvenirs directly from their boats was something unique for the whole family. My kids were very excited during the boat ride because it was their first time traveling through a floating market on a small boat. Along the journey, we could see many traditional wooden houses, local people, and colorful market activity on both sides of the canal. The atmosphere was lively and full of local Thai culture. During the trip, I also bought a beautiful Brahman statue as a souvenir and visited a local Buddha temple nearby, which gave us a peaceful cultural experience. We also stopped at a local coconut sugar making place where we could see how traditional Thai coconut sugar is produced. It was very interesting watching the process and tasting the fresh coconut products. We also enjoyed buying Thai snacks, coconut ice cream, fresh fruits, and souvenirs while traveling in the boats. The boat ride gave many beautiful photo opportunities, especially with the traditional market scenery and colorful umbrellas around the canal. It’s better to visit in the morning because the weather becomes very hot and crowded later in the day. Bringing hats, drinking water, or a small fan is recommended, especially when traveling with kids. Overall, Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is a wonderful family-friendly attraction and worth visiting if you want to experience traditional Thai market culture while enjoying a relaxing boat ride.
It’s very expensive and the added experience like petting a tiger just adds additional. Also quote a long trip from Bangkok to come here. Once here, it is a beautiful boat ride, collect some souvenirs, try some Thai food without any of the additional experiences. Most of the souvenirs shops are similar but I’d recommend asking the boat driver’s own family store to buy from them, as they actually live here. The loud engine boat and maneuvering in corner is fun and feels very authentic and close to the country’s lifestyle
Interesting place to visit and a good way to experience a traditional Thai floating market. Lots of boats selling food, fruits and souvenirs. It can get quite busy and touristy, but still a fun experience and worth visiting once.
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market has a very tourist-heavy feel, and I was aware of that the whole time. A lot of the experience seemed geared toward selling rather than browsing, and the pressure to buy things got tiring after a while. It also felt restrictive in places, especially when photography wasn’t allowed. I can see why people visit, but for me it was more interesting than enjoyable.
