Sweet potatoes were soft and nice. But service was not genuinely warm. We consumed the dessert outside the store and were told to eat a few stalls away. We walked further but did not come across any seating area for consumption.
While vacationing in Tokyo, we made our way to this area to try the viral creme brulee sweet potatoes. I must say that it was great. The sweet potatoes were cooked to perfection. We ordered all three varieties. The creme brulee, ice cream and honey butter toppings. My favorite was the brulee topping however they were all enjoyable. They were not too sweet and were well balanced with the added toppings. This shop only accepts cash so be sure to have some with you. The shop is also just a walk up and there is no seating inside or out. We wanted to sit and enjoy our sweet potatoes which required us to find somewhere to sit. We were able to find some benches about a block away by Uniqlo to do so. It was well worth the effort to try this dessert.
The sweet potato was really good and well cooked.. I wouldn't say go out of your way to try it but if you are in that area definitely try it. There's no sitting in the actual place so you have to go 5 stores down and eat inside an empty store with no seats or amenities to make it enjoyable.
Make sure to close the door that you opened guys! I slide the door open, ordered and left, and while taking the photo outside the store, the staff was closing the door that I left open (Instant guilt). The food was great, cream with sweet potato was new to my taste. Could not enjoy to fullest since I was already full trying snacks in Nakamise street. You have to go to bench area around Uniqlo building few blocks away, cant eat in the streets. Also, I had to return here later for to dispose the trash as I could not found any trashcans in the downside area 😅
Imo Pippi is a cute and popular stop that focuses on simple sweet potato-based treats. While the items are nicely presented and enjoyable, the pricing does feel a bit on the higher side for what it is. That said, it’s still worth a try if you’re curious. Overall, it’s a pleasant experience, just better enjoyed as a sharing stop rather than a full indulgence on your own.
