The best local Thai cuisine we have tried in Koh Samui. The Fisherman village is full of international big restaurants that does not represent Thai local culture and food. We really wanted to try authentic local cuisine. Patuy is definetly best food here. Their roasted pork belly is the best thing you can taste, so much flavor! It is a family owned business and very hidden but it is definetly worth it! It is true somebody put a comment “don’t judge a book by its cover” is true! This place is a hidden gem who wants to eat very tasty and good quality Thai food. We also tried the Pad Thai and Curries, all are 10/10. If we really need to mention a point of improvement is is to take care of cleaning of tables. The place itself is not disaster but could use bit more cleaning. Overall the amazing food is worth it all!
Food was fresh and authentic Thai food, little tucked in from the hustle and bustle of main strip of fisherman village. Staff members played with my toddler as we enjoyed the food. One of our favourite dinners in Thailand. Would definitely come back here again
The local food here is absolutely amazing—full of flavor and beautifully prepared. I also tried the stir-fried pork belly and the fried shrimp with tamarind sauce, and both dishes were incredibly delicious. The pork belly was perfectly tender with a rich, savory taste, while the shrimp had a wonderful balance of sweetness and tanginess. I highly recommend this place!
We chose Thai Patuy Restaurant in Fisherman’s Village for lunch by chance because felt like a truly authentic Thai place. The space is very simple, and the service seems to be run by a family, which adds to the local feel. We ordered Pad See Ew, which was a bit disappointing, and Tom Yum fried rice, which on the other hand was full of flavor and very enjoyable. The place is simple and the service is a bit slow, but we were already aware of that and it didn’t come as a surprise.
The restaurant is quite bare bones, with plastic tables and chairs, fluorescent lights with quite a plain atmosphere with little ambience. Service although enthusiastic is a little hit and miss, as things like glasses for the water get forgotten and the staff do go missing quite often. I do understand it is a small operation and likely consisting of all family members, so it is understandable, but is frustrating when trying to get their attention and no one is around. Food wise, the uncommon isan food seems to be the standout. Pork neck was amazing with a funky sauce. The others are a little hit and miss. For example, papaya salad was unbalanced taste-wise and missing the dried shrimp and the cabbage, beans on the side. Larb was missing a lot of the roasted rice and sourness (salty being the predominant flavour) and the pork omelette was ultra dry and not the usual fluffiness. One main complaint, but unfortunately understandable, was we came in just at the same time as a table of 5. Although we ordered just a few minutes after the other table, we waited 45 to 50 minutes for our first dish to come even though there were essentially only two tables in the restaurant. If they had warned. us, we would have left, but it left a bad taste in our mouth and made us unlikely to return. In saying that, here is a sign on the front mentioning that she is only one person and asking for understanding.
