If you are in the lake area of Mt. Fuji, this is a great spot. It will get really busy and wait times can be long (we had no wait and lucked out with immediate seating). They serve a different style of ramen called hoto (thicker noodles than ramen) and more additions to the soup including mushrooms, potatoes and squash. The soup temperature was extremely hot and delicious served in a cast iron bowl. Also had the tonkatsu, tempura and karage. All were great, fresh and served quickly. Our guide brought us here and so glad we enjoyed some hot food on a rainy day.
A restaurant near the hotel zone of Kawaguchiko. I have heard that this place is popular and often required queuing, but surprising I have only waited for 5 minutes. I came here at around 18:45. The food, as expected, was good. I have tried horse sashimi for the first time. The taste is quite unique, tho I am not a big fan of it. The service was similar to other restaurant in Japan, towel and water. The vibe is good, feels like a cozy local small restaurant (it really is).
Absolutely incredible meal! I had the vegetarian hoto noodles along with kimchi and fried octopus, and everything was just perfect. The hoto dish was warm, hearty, and full of flavor — the miso broth with vegetables was rich and comforting, especially in the rainy weather. The kimchi added a nice kick, and the fried octopus was crispy on the outside and tender inside — one of the highlights of the meal. The portions are generous, and the quality of ingredients really stands out. You can tell this is authentic local food, not just a tourist spot. The atmosphere is simple and cozy, and even if there’s a bit of a wait, it’s 100% worth it. Highly recommend this place if you’re visiting Kawaguchiko. Would definitely come back again!
Perfect for a chilly day. Hoto noodles are a local dish in soup with lots of vegetables. Portions were very big, could not finish everything. The horse meat sashimi is worth trying if you want to but nothing crazy about that. You check in on the tablet by the door with your party number and someone will call you in when your table is ready.
Hoto is good especially for first timer - thick flat noodles in bowl of hot thick vegetable flavourful savoury soup. Tempura rice bowl is absolutely delicious with its batter and soy sauce in bowl of rice. A set meal serving is huge I will probably return for the tempura rice bowl the next visit.
