Yummy pork and beef croquette/cutlet. Has lovely chunks of onion throughout and is hot and fresh. Very busy but they have perfected a fast service system so it’s not an issue. It’s exactly what you would expect it to taste like, not exceptionally good but I don’t think it has to be! :) Nothing to go out of your way for but a good snack if you’re in the area.

Found this place because we saw such a long line but luckily the queue moved pretty fast. They sell it for 400 yen each, so we decided to give it a try. And WOW!!! the taste was seriously amazing. Super juicy, perfectly cooked, and honestly I think this is the best katsu I’ve had in Japan. It was so good that we ended up coming back a second time before heading home.

I found Asakusa Menchi while wandering the streets near Senso‑ji and it instantly became one of those snacks you remember long after the trip. The place is small and busy, with people lining up to grab the freshly fried menchi katsu as it comes straight out of the fryer. From the moment you smell that golden, crispy breadcrumb coating you know it’s going to be good. The menchi itself is exactly what you hope for - juicy, flavorful, and wonderfully crunchy on the outside. The meat inside is seasoned well, rich without being greasy, and the crisp exterior gives a satisfying contrast that makes every bite worth it. It’s one of those street food treats that feels simple but hits all the right notes. You can grab one on the go and keep exploring, or just stand by the shop and enjoy it while you watch the world go by. One great thing about this spot is how it fits into the flow of Asakusa. It’s right among other popular food stalls and shops, so you can easily make it part of a food crawl. People around me were doing the same; grabbing a menchi, walking down Nakamise Street, or taking a break before heading on to the next snack. Service is quick and efficient, which helps keep the line moving even when the crowd builds. They prepare the menchi in batches, so it’s almost always hot and fresh when it reaches your hands. If you’re in Asakusa and want a classic Japanese street food experience that delivers crunch, juiciness, and real flavor, Asakusa Menchi is worth stopping for. It doesn’t take long to enjoy but it leaves a big impression.

The Mog Champ sends his regards. Lined up about 15 mins early and was nearly at the counter but the service is super quick since they prepare it before they open and most customers order the signature Asakusa Menchi for 400 yen. They have a small eating area next door as well, most people sit and stand there. The menchi comes super hot and you even burn your tongue so be careful when taking a bite out of it. It's definitely worth trying since it's very affordable for a snack. Thanks for the service team! Mogliest Regards, Your Mog Champ

Our tour guide took us to try this famous fried dumpling. It’s made with pork and some vegetables inside, and it’s very tasty! The price is ¥400 per piece. Pay attention to the “no eating while walking” signs. The shop has a designated area on the left for eating, along with trash bins for proper disposal.
