Tucked into a railway arch, Andy's is clearly a local favourite judging by the clientele when we arrived. Great quality izakaya fare, with cheery service and a very welcoming atmosphere. We had a selection of sashimi and tempura - we ordered too much, as the portions turned out to be pretty generous - but do not miss the "gyoza-stuffed" chicken wings, a genius idea clearly concocted by a drunk person who asked the burning question: what if you de-boned a chicken wing, filled the gap with pork gyoza filling, then deep-fried the result? The answer, predictably, is that you get a juicy and amazing chicken wing full of good stuff. Excellent food, great hospitality, fun atmosphere.
Simply Amazing! This “Rugby Izakaya” is a Must visit. Andy and team are fantastic. The vibe and atmosphere is always fun! King Crab, scallops, stuffed chicken wings, gyoza - highly recommended! Although everything is excellent. Drinks, food, service - all top notch! Great mix of locals, foreigners, tourists. If you are a tourist and want a great Japanese izakaya experience - come here!
Great Izakaya with very fiendly hosts. The food was tasty and beer was cold. I would go back again many times! English menu ;) Grilled scallops were big and tasty, so were the asparagus.
We stumbled upon this unassuming izakaya, and were pleasantly surprised. Yuki’s the friendliest server and made our evening amazing. The food was tasty and very reasonably priced. The sours were also really good, especially the craft lemon sour.
Andy’s is truly a hidden gem… and honestly a little dangerous in the best way. All-you-can-eat AND all-you-can-drink? Say less. That alone is a risky life choice—but then Andy himself shows up and personally brings our table of 17 bottles of Jack Single Barrel and Eagle Rare like we’re VIPs. Sir… we were not prepared 😂 The drinks? Lemon sours = solid Ginger sours = phenomenal (these will sneak up on you real quick) Plum wine = smooth, sweet, and way too easy to keep ordering Food just kept coming and coming: King crab (served cold, which threw me off—but still really good… I just think I prefer it warm) Sashimi platter Cooked tuna steak nuggets Stuffed chicken wings = the REAL MVP Veggie tempura A whole fish… and yes, my husband and a coworker ate the eyes. I will never emotionally recover 😂 There was even more food, but at some point I tapped out and just accepted my fate. 👉 Amazing food 👉 Incredible hospitality 👉 Slightly questionable life decisions by the end 10/10 would go back… but maybe with a game plan next time.
