At first, I wasn’t a big fan. The restaurant had quite a strong fishy smell. Thankfully, the place itself was clean and modern, which made it more comfortable. We tried a few dishes including the tuna bowl. The presentation looked nice and the tuna was fresh, but for what we got, it felt a bit pricey. especially the tuna. It also seemed to cater more towards tourists, which might explain the pricing.
Great spot to eat the most delicious tuna in Nara! We ordered both raw (high fatty and medium fatty tuna) and cooked (teriyaki and grilled tuna) and all dishes were fantastic. Total came around
The high quality fatty tuna bowl was indeed of high quality! The tuna was fresh and very tasty. It was served with vinegared rice, soy sauce, wasabi and a fresh hot miso soup. This was the best tuna I've ever had! Also, the service was friendly and attentive.
This is a hidden gem serving very fresh tuna and uni over rice. It was located just a block away from the touristy area with a very clam ambiance. The place has ample seatings but it is not meant for a large party. You can order the items from the iPad directly so not being able to speak Japanese is not an issue. This was one of our favorite meals after spending 11 days in Japan.
Ordered the medium fatty tuna bowl. The tuna slices were thick and fresh, and the rice was just plain Japanese white rice without extra seasoning — super simple and clean style. The tuna had a slightly fishy taste, but nothing too strong. Overall still pretty enjoyable if you like more natural seafood flavors.
