I loved this place! The best matcha sweets and drinks I had in Kyoto! Especially the matcha Taiyaki, the dough is soft and rightly sweet, while the filling is generous and tasty! The staff is friendly, and the ambiance inside is nice and cozy, a perfect break for a peaceful moment in the busy Nishiki market!
Ordered the matcha fondue(1650 JPY). At first I wanted to give 3 or 4 stars but then I found the food quality not consistent as they served the black round sweets without the golden leaf garnish…all the other reviews had it regardless of the season, but not mine…making I feel like being treated unfairly. The staff did not allow me to sit by the garden, either:( The fruits are seasonal so you may not get what is shown in the picture.
A nice little oasis to get away from the crowd at Nishiki Market. At the back, there is a small seating area with a washroom. There is even a little Zen garden inside but I cannot get any peace as the little shop gets crowded, and is filled with rubbish on the tables. Apparently you have to pay a small fee to be able to sit at the table in front of the Zen garden. Yikes. The Matcha ice-cream and the Taiyaki are nice.
This cafe has a great selection of matcha sweets and parfaits. The matcha is also excellent and this is a nice spot to take a rest before finishing your stroll through the Nishiki market. Large groups may have a hard time finding seats. The matcha snacks make great gifts.
Loved their custard filled fishes. Freshly made and piping hot.
