The BBQ is just fine Full of local ppl so it seems to be good However the beef is not that tender or soft enough… It’s super hard to chew with lotta fascia Thus I had to spit out most of them The vegetable is also not fresh… very overpriced one in touristic area You get much better choice in Kyoto
I remember we got the beef set with three kinds of beef. They gave us really fatty beef for the most part. I ended up getting sick from it for the rest of my Japan trip. Not cheap for getting fatty and low quality meat. Edit to add the photo of meat we got.
Quality of food is as good if not better than most restaurants selling A5. Not too expensive too
This place is a gem!!!! Honestly food was rly good, must order the beef intestine. Service was good as there’s a young lady who can speak english, other staff couldn’t but they still try their best. Very value for money and the meat is quality too. Just come early to put your name for a table, if not you might have to wait for hours. There’s a canal behind that you can chill there as well while waiting. Highly recommend!
This second and newer Aje shop has a more international vibe compared to their original location (which is worth checking out too), but it maintains the same high quality of food. The staff speaks English, which was very helpful. Our favourites, influenced by what the locals around us ordered, were the small intestine, skirt steak (off-cuts of marble meat at a significantly cheaper price), red meat mix (less marbling although still quite fatty), and the veggie combination.
